The Story Behind Wild + Rae's Comfortable Cowgirl Boots (Yeehaw!)

Hey y'all! Vanessa here, founder of Wild + Rae, and today I want to chat about one of my favorite topics—cowgirl boots! Specifically, why I decided to create the most comfortable cowgirl boots you'll ever slip your feet into. 

The Daily Boot Battle

Let me set the scene. My daughter, Harlow Rae, loves cowgirl boots. She wore them everywhere—whether it was a day at the park or just a quick trip to the store. But no matter how adorable they looked, there was always one issue: they were stiff, uncomfortable, and just not designed for real-life movement.

If you’ve ever had a kid tell you their feet hurt when you’re in the middle of a fun day out, you know it can derail things fast. Harlow loved the look, but she needed something she could wear all day without pain or complaints. 

Creating a Boot That’s Both Cute and Comfy

That’s when the light bulb went off. I thought, why can't cowgirl boots be comfortable enough to wear all day—like sneakers, but still cute? I wanted to create a boot that was durable, stylish, and could keep up with kids' energy without hurting their feet.

So, I got to work on designing the first-ever comfortable cowgirl boot for Wild + Rae. Here’s what I focused on:

  • Athletic Shoe Insoles: I added cushioned insoles, similar to what you’d find in a running shoe, so they feel good from the moment they’re slipped on.
  • Flexible Soles: Most boots are stiff, making it hard for kids to play or run around. Ours have flexible soles that move with them, no breaking-in period needed.
  • Stylish Designs: Comfort doesn’t have to mean boring! We kept the classic cowgirl boot look, but with fun details that girls love, from fringe to sparkles.

Why Comfort Matters (Especially for Kids)

Kids don’t slow down, and their shoes shouldn’t either. When shoes fit right and feel good, kids can focus on having fun, not worrying about how their feet feel. Harlow’s confidence grew once she could wear her favorite boots all day long without any complaints, and I knew other kids would love that feeling too.

Comfort means more than just avoiding sore feet—it's about empowering kids to be active, adventurous, and happy in what they wear.
